Fall is my favorite time of the year! I just don't like what follows after... :-<

But even with winter knocking at our door, I like the change of weather we have here in Canada with the 4 different seasons. It gives me plenty of reasons to complain about - too hot, too cold, too humid - ya know, lol

The worst thing about Houston weather, aside from the occasional hurricane, is my van's A/C. I need it 8 months out of the year, but when the cold weather does finally arrive, I always forget to run it, now & then. Sure enough, when Spring rolls around, the seals have dried up, the freon has leaked out & I have to have it rebuilt & reserviced again. If I could just remember to run it once or twice a week, it would probably be fine for several years. But then, what would I have to complain about?

Oh, I know! I just got notified by Amazon that the case of 6 gallons of anti-freeze I just ordered got damaged in transit & the carrier refused to deliver it, so they sent it (what was left of it) back to Amazon. SO, I've re-ordered & we'll see if they've learned their lesson on how to treat such items.

Then, to top that off, I had to order a new hydraulic patient lift. I need it to transfer my wife from her bed to her power chair & back. Her old one broke a wheel this past Monday & I've been coaxing it to work until I can get a replacement. There's a wheel replacement kit, but it costs almost half what an entire new lift does & takes 2 weeks to get here (I ordered it anyway). So, I bought a new lift, which should have been here last night. The UPS truck arrived, the driver got out, fiddled around in the back for awhile, so I went out & stood waiting. He came back to me & said that the box isn't in his truck. It's on his manifest, but the box just isn't there. He had no idea why & no idea if it's on a different truck, got damaged or mismarked. I explained what it was & how much I need it. He said he'd do what he could to resolve it when he got back to the shop. This morning, UPS says it's out for delivery again, so we'll see. I think we're looking at the same problem. These UPS guys, when they find themselves presented with a heavy item, just drop them, rather than place them. They get damaged or the box splits open & dumps the contents. They don't care. It's not their stuff.

UPDATE:

The new lift still hasn't arrived, though Amazon's tracking info says "Out For Delivery". So, I checked the tracking number at the UPS site & it says it departed Houston (where I am) & went to Stafford, TX, (just a few miles South of me, where the UPS depot is), then left there, on it's way to destination. NO ESTIMATE OF DELIVERY DATE AVAILABLE.

The good news is, the replacement caster wheel set I also ordered for the old lift, which wasn't due for delivery until late next week, showed up on my porch last night, at about 8:30pm. I've already installed them, so her lift is like new. I can wait for the other lift, which will simply be a spare, anyway.

I must live a charmed life...
