If you're a fan of Big Bang Theory, you'll be happy to learn that CBS and Warner Bros. Television have officially renewed the geeky sitcom for two more seasons! The news comes from THR which offers the following details on the new deal with the actors:
Sources say stars Jim Parsons (Sheldon), Johnny Galecki (Leonard) and Kaley Cuoco's (Penny) new deals will see the trio take a pay cut to $900,000 per episode — down from the $1 million per episode and points (1.25 percent) of the show's lucrative back-end that they scored three years ago. Original stars Simon Helberg (Howard) and Kunal Nayyar (Raj) were upped to the show's top tier as part of their last round of contract renegotiations. (Parsons, Galecki and Helberg all received overall deals with WBTV as well.) All five original stars are said to be earning $900,000 per episode as they took pay cuts to help boost the contracts for co-stars Bialik and Rauch.
As of right now, co-stars Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch have yet to sign contracts because they've been holding out for more money. I've gotta say that it's pretty cool that the other actors took pay cuts to help boost their contracts and they are expected to return. I'm sure the other actors will be able to survive on $900,000 per episode!
The budget on Big Bang Theory is $10 million per episode. That's a lot of freakin' money, but the studio and network obviously believe it's still got the stuff and they are confident enough to propel it forward with at least two new seasons.
I've enjoyed watching the series over the years, and it's fantastic news to hear that we've got at least two more years of watching these fun characters from Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady, and showrunner Steve Molaro. There's no word on if season 12 will be the show's last, so we'll just have to wait and see.
