Netflix has released a featurette for its upcoming Netflix comedy series Space Force. The featurette offers an inside look at the series which comes from The Office creator Greg Daniels and Steve Carrell in his first big TV comedy series since leaving The Office. The promo video highlights Carell’s return to comedy TV as well as the impressive cast that includes John Malkovich, Lisa Kudrow, and the late Fred Willard.
The series is based on President Trump’s idea in which Space Force will “defend America’s vital interests in space, the next warfighting domain, and I think that’s pretty obvious to everybody. It’s all about space.”
The series is described as a workplace comedy that centers around the group of people who must develop the Space Force military branch and Carrell’s character, General Mark R. Naird, is leading the charge on it. Malkovich stars as Dr. Adrian Mallory, and it also stars Diana Silvers (Booksmart, Ma) as Erin Naird, Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation) as F. Tony Scarapiducci, Jimmy O. Yang (Crazy Rich Asians) as Dr. Chan Kaifang, Tawny Newsome as Angela Ali, and Alex Sparrow as Bobby Telatovich.
A decorated pilot with dreams of running the Air Force, four-star general Mark R. Naird (Steve Carell) is thrown for a loop when he finds himself tapped to lead the newly formed sixth branch of the US Armed Forces: Space Force. Skeptical but dedicated, Mark uproots his family and moves to a remote base in Colorado where he and a colorful team of scientists and “Spacemen” are tasked by the White House with getting American boots on the moon (again) in a hurry and achieving total space dominance. From co-creators Carell and Greg Daniels (The Office), SPACE FORCE is a new kind of workplace comedy, where the stakes are sky high and the ambitions even higher.
